Eligibility

1. Must be at or below 130 percent of the federal poverty level 2. Must be responsible for home heating costs or pay heating costs as an undesignated portion of rent 3. Must not have in excess of $2,000 in liquid resources, or $3,000 if at least one person in the household is age 60 or older In addition to the above eligibility requirements, crisis applicants must be within four days of running out of fuel if wood, coal, propane, fuel oil or kerosene is the heat source or a disconnect/past due notice has been received from the vendor. Participants in certain other benefit programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or certain needs-tested Veterans Affairs (VA) programs may be automatically eligible. #MinimumAgeFemale: 0 #MaximumAgeFemale: 150 #MinimumAgeMale: 0 #MaximumAgeMale: 150

Required documents

1. Photo ID 2. Most recent heating bill or verification (lease agreement) from landlord that the heating expenses are included in rent 3. Proof of Social Security number or Permanent Residence Card (Green Card) for EACH member of the household 4. Proof of all household's income (all members) from the preceding month Crisis phase applicants requesting assistance for natural gas or electric must bring a disconnect/past due notice. Crisis phase applicants whose rent includes heat must bring an eviction notice from the landlord.

Fees

FEES: No application fees. Crisis phase applicants of households at or above 150% of federal poverty level must pay a portion of the minimum necessary to alleviate the crisis. PAYMENT METHOD: Assistance is paid directly to the applicant's heating provider.
